Amber Hunt

Pen & Ink, Acrylic Painting

I love orca whales! So much so that I draw them doing fun things on the regular. I enjoy working in black and white but am currently starting to explore more with pops of color as well as gold leaf. I am inspired by everything from nature to pop culture!

Arohika.jpg

Arohika Verma

Acrylics

I strive to represent each painting with a balance of impressionism and abstraction. My travels have guided me to discover love of art and the artist in me. I draw inspiration from nature, colors, textures and memories.

I paint from nostalgic moments that develop on canvas, with swipes of bold brush strokes, washes of vivid colors. I intuitively build each painting and strive to achieve a balance between the reality of the subject and my imagination. My goal is to convey a feeling that allows the viewer to make their own personal connection with my art.

Becky's art is highly influenced and inspired by beauty and energy found in nature. She strives to achieve an intense, unique sense of light, exaggerated color palette and playful textures to give a whimsical essence to natural elements. Bev Eckman.jpeg

Bev Eckmann

Watercolor, Acrylic, Collage

I love every aspect of the intriguing, complex dance that is watercolor. The abundant choices of color, the drips, the splashes, the shadows and the lines all coax the essence of the multidimensional spirit of the subjects I fall in love with onto the paper. I am powerfully drawn to a subject with a deep sense of drama and a powerful spark of life. I like capturing a brief moment of time and emotion in my subjects and want to communicate that to you in my paintings.

Brandi Reyna.jpg

Brandi Reyna

Acrylic, pastel, and watercolor

I love vibrant colors, animals, and landscapes. If I had the land, it would contain a farm. Until then, my animals live their happy, colorful lives on my canvas. I take road trips across the country with my husband and three dogs in search of the perfect reference photos. These are translated through the mediums of acrylic, pastel, or watercolor into the happy scenes of my memory. I began doing pet portraits in 2016 as a way to help bring a piece of home to my fellow Airmen while deployed. It thrills my heart to depict the spirit of an animal in a way that will bring joy or comfort.

Cameron Wilson

pen & Ink

My work focuses on realism pieces with drawings in pen typically being a bit more simple while drawings in pencil are more detailed. I am inspired by nature, animals and humans making a positive impact on the world and in our community.

Carmel Mercado

Acrylics

Carmel is a mixed-media artist on an unrelenting quest to celebrate life and joy with her communities. With her use of color, pattern, and whimsical child-like designs, Carmel strives to evoke happy bemusement, laughter, and gratitude for the otherwise magically ordinary things in one’s day-to-day that create joy. For Carmel, some of those small daily joys include good food and good company (in the form of animal friends), two common themes in her art. Carmel’s punchy whimsical style has been heavily influenced by her time working with children as a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist and from her travels around the world.

Charmi Shah

Mixed Media

I am a mixed-media, abstract painter who was born and raised in Mumbai, India. Whether I’m
painting vibrant abstracts, mandalas, or inspirational quotes, my work is always influenced by
radiant color, rich layers of texture, and rich jewel tones that are a reflection of being born into
a culture that is rich with festive and celebratory color. Whether I’m working on paper or canvas, I prefer to incorporate some sort of collage element in order to add depth and complexity to the composition. I love cutting, ripping, and assembling the pieces, much like solving a beautifully complex puzzle.
I try to work without thinking about a specific outcome. Instead, I focus on the energy that goes into the work. I'm always mindful of the fact that what I am creating will eventually become part of someone's home.

Colleen Stone

Mixed Media

I'm a mixed media artist and native of our beautiful Pacific Northwest, surrounded by tall trees, birds, salt water, and the bluest sky you've ever seen! I'm happiest with my feet on a trail through the forest or my hands in wet paint. My work is nature inspired and never too serious. I enjoy playing with bright, cheerful acrylics, as well as soft, delicate watercolors. At home in my studio I'm surrounded by stacks of vintage books, jars of feathers, and piles of pretty paper. Mixed media art is the perfect outlet for someone who loves to do it all!

David McCrae.jpg

David McCrae

Photography

The history of photography is replete with examples of image capture without a camera. My present focus, ‘From a Scanner, Darkly,’ began when I had no time to work with film. Instead, a scanner and a computer became my substitute for photosensitive materials and a darkroom. Initially, subject matter came from the pantry and the garden. Food and flowers; simple subjects but not mundane, for they feed the body and the mind. Later crumpled paper and sheet pans became grist for the scanner.

Hannah Katherine

Pen & Ink, Acrylic, Wood

Hannah is a local artist, teacher and small business owner. Her art can be described as playful and repetitive, and although her style isn’t too specific, you can see consistency across her works. The type of art that she enjoys the most is mandala making, where she will graph, draw and color her pieces before mounting them to wood and cutting around the edges for display.

On top of being involved with the Bothell Art Scene and the arts in downtown Bothell, Hannah owns and operates a small business called Art with Hannah Katherine where she teaches art to ages 7-18.

Jeanette Crooks

Mixed Media, Watercolor, Acrylics

I have created assemblage art for several years and I’m huge on recycling and repurposing. I love to use recycled or found objects in my art. I have a mutual love of painting. I rediscovered painting in watercolor and acrylics after years of putting away my brushes. Now, I create commissioned pet portraits, landscapes, & anything relating to nature in my paintings.

Jeannine Frazier Boone

Jessica Drake

Photography

Fantasy meets fashion. Creating the worlds that only exist in the mind through photography and photoshop. I love to help people realize their fantasies.

Joy Hagen

Encaustic

Joy Hagen creates “assembled landscapes” using hot melted bees wax mixed with resin and powdered pigments on reclaimed wood. The forester’s daughter is revealed in art that speaks to remembered moments through selected bits and pieces from the natural world, usually with a reference to trees. “I love the contrast between the soft, sensuous nature of the bees wax against the hard physicality of process as I scrape, burn, tear and saw. Process and subject become intertwined as I contemplate loss, devastation and erosion versus perseverance, fertility and new growth.”

JP Wilkins

Handmade Stone and Wire Woven Jewelry

I'm a local artist who traverses the mountains and deserts collecting minerals directly from ancient deposits. I hand-craft these precious stones into finished cabochons of earth's treasures. I study each to create a unique setting which will enhance their natural beauty and make them wearable art that can be shared with others.

Judy Moritz.jpg

Judy Moritz

colored and graphite pencil, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, mixed media

I am a long time Bothell resident who started taking colored pencil and oil painting at the Northshore Senior Center in 1997 and I still attend the center although now primarily as a colored pencil/drawing teacher. I draw or paint in a realistic style and love to capture flowers, people, scenery and animals using the medium that can most easily capture the details. I really like to portray scenes that mean a lot to me or that send a message either about our need to preserve our environment or about the angst of dealing with disease.

Kaili Sandico

Clay Earrings

I make polymer clay earrings that include various colors and shapes. My goal is to have fun expressing myself creatively while also providing people with the opportunity to wear something or gift something, that sparks joy and allows them to feel like themselves. Sometimes that means pushing their normal color pallet to be a little more colorful and sometimes that means providing them with a nice neutral that can be worn as a daily staple.

Laurie Clark

Hand-painted Silk Scarves

I am a contemplative artist who has trouble accessing verbal skills. Finding the right words to talk about the amazing things I observe around me can be frustrating. It is much more natural for me to pick up a paint brush, some embroidery floss or my camera when I wish to share some new discovery. The artwork I create is meant to be enjoyed on whatever level the viewer experiences it and not layered with complex meaning. I am influenced by my historical and religious interests and enjoy imagining and interpreting ancient works in new ways.

Lisa DeBaets.jpg

Lisa DeBaets

Watercolor, acrylic, mixed

I have 'created' all my life, but didn't begin painting until my first sip and paint in 2013  just after moving to the PNW. Because I haven't decided what style of painting is me, I have an eclectic collection of works from realism to abstract, in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media.

I see beauty in all of God's creation. The crazy love I see in my dog, Coco's eyes, my husband, Roy's joyful smile, and the unique orchids he grows. One of my favorite things to do is paint with a friend, in my studio or on location.

Lynnea Mattson

Watercolor and mixed media

Finding watercolor in 2005 changed my life. I love the way it moves and the way brings life to my subjects. It lets me be tight or it just has it's own way and flows. I always think when I am at the beginning of a painting "I am not going to be able to paint this one."

Watercolor makes me look very hard at my subject, the shapes and colors I need to use. I then "see" what it wants me to do and the painting then comes to life.

Watercolor, Oil and Acrylic Painting

I paint with eyes that once were blind, but now can see – I see light that makes beautiful the darkness, interwoven in every corner, moment and story. Maxi's work gravitates toward thought-provoking compositions of contemporary scenes, inviting viewers to insert their own personal and social commentary of our times.

Michele Aldrin

Acrylic Painting

Since I was a young child, I've loved doodling. I would entertain my friends with the silly images I sketched. As an adult, I 'doodle' with acrylics. I find that doing whimsical pieces is just what my mind needs to help through the stresses of life. I enjoy creating happy art that incorporates adorable animals and flowers, juxtaposition of peculiar size, and a bit of humor. My Plein Air landscapes even have whimsy with the play of colors and brushstrokes. Creating fantastical pieces makes me happy, and I hope that my art adds to the joy in people's homes.

Michele Marquardt

Glass

It all began in 2010 after taking a glass fusing class.  I never looked back!  My inspirations come from nature, wineries, and scenic destinations with Orcas and Humpback whales. Experimenting with different techniques and types of glass, utilizing a range of temperatures to achieve the depth of the glass to bring out the detail and accents has allowed me to grow as an artist. Some of my pieces are fired multiple times to achieve the depth as well as texture, and to enhance the vibrant colors. Mixing different mediums with glass such as wood, rock, and copper is also an exciting way to take glass to new levels.

Currently my work can be viewed at Arts of Snohomish, Made in the NW (Idaho), Lifted Taco, and Dr. Werner D.D.S.

Rhonda Gardner

Colored Pencil

After a fulfilling career in the field of education, my interest in drawing and painting reemerged.  I have always enjoyed viewing other people’s art and learning about it, but had not ventured into creating art myself until I became an ‘empty nester.’  I currently enjoy painting in watercolors and working with colored pencils.  I have taken several drawing and watercolor classes from Charlene Collins Freeman which has helped me hone my skills as an artist.  My interest in colored pencils began after taking a workshop from Eileen Sorg, then further developed after taking portrait classes from Ann Kullberg.

Some of my most satisfying early art memories involve coloring with crayons.  I was a ‘stay in the lines’ girl but enjoyed experimenting with the use of different pressures and creating different values within a picture.  That same joy has returned as I have developed skills with colored pencils.

Rohini Mathur.png

Rohini Mathur

Painting

I am an oil painting artist based in Bothell, WA, primarily painting bright and colorful florals, botanicals and garden scene paintings that pay homage to the immense wonders of Mother Nature. Through my paintings, I want to share my deep appreciation and wonderment of the natural world that allow us to pause from our busy lives and admire the beauty that surrounds us each moment.
Bright and bold colors are my go-to palette. My style of painting is loose, abstract impressionistic as I attempt to capture the essence and mood of my subjects rather than a complete detailed mirror image.

Sara Wilkes

Calligraphy & Hand Lettering

I create colorful, affirming art out of words that have encouraged and inspired me, through both traditional and digital mediums. A huge part of my practice is making goals and projects for myself. I’ve completed several year-long art projects including Sara Reads and Letters - lettering a quote from every book I read in 2021. I also enjoy sending mail art and I have a monthly art exchange with a fellow lettering artist. I love learning new things and experimenting and incorporating that into my art.

Sarah Kogler

Photography

I would describe my photography as moody. I am a "shoot from the hip" photographer. I take my camera everywhere and take pictures of things that inspire me at the moment. My favorite photography days are cloudy and rainy. I am also an avid traveler and storm chaser and have photographs from my many adventures.

Sonya Lang

photography

I love textures and shapes and often use the digital darkroom to pull those out to my liking. I like a bit of exaggeration especially in my animal images because to me they are all exotic and surreal. I strive to capture their eyes making an intimate connection, letting us into their world for a brief moment. I love to travel and try to capture the spirit of the land as I see and feel it.

Stacy Murphy

Clay

My pottery is hand built and high fired. I use paper clay for about 80% of the items I make. Fibers from recycled paper are added to the clay body and this type of clay allows me to make larger items. The glaze will have a darker, earthier color. For the other 20% I use a porcelain clay which provides a brighter glaze. The high fire process allows each item to be used outside as it will not absorb water and also be microwave, dishwasher & oven safe. Additionally, all glazes are food safe.

Susan Akers-Smith

Mixed Media Collage

I am fascinated by layers and textures. Each collage piece starts with a layer of paint and successive layers of paper, fiber paste, ink and marker are added until I achieve a look I am satisfied with. The papers I use are hand painted on junk mail or collected from magazines, old books, maps, tea bag tags, fortune cookies, sheet music or just about any other paper that catches my eye. I find myself picking up pieces of paper, labels, tags, receipts wherever I am. My favorites are vintage letters or postage stamps. The history they carry with them is special. Starting with a general idea, I follow the journey of the piece from beginning to end. It always amazes me. I am inspired daily by my garden and all of its inhabitants.
